Dr. Nitin Agarwal provides medical-legal consultation and expert witness services to attorneys, insurers, and self-insured employers in matters involving neurological surgery, spine surgery and spine care, neurotrauma, and traumatic brain injury. He is board certified in neurological surgery and fellowship-trained in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, and he remains in active operative practice — so opinions rest on how these operations are performed and these injuries are managed today, not on a recollection of how they once were.

His training spans both sides of spine care. After a neurological surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh, with enfolded fellowships in sports medicine and in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, he completed an AO Spine and CAST-approved fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco under both orthopedic and neurosurgical mentors. He went on to serve as Director of Neurotrauma at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and as Director of Minimally Invasive Spine and Robotics Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He is now an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at the West Virginia University School of Medicine and Acting Chief and Education Director of Neurological Surgery at the Veterans Affairs Pittsburgh Healthcare System.

He has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles and delivered more than 350 presentations, and he is an author or editor of several of the textbooks residents train on — including Greenberg's Handbook of Neurosurgery and Neurosurgery Fundamentals. That record means the literature behind an opinion can be produced and defended, not merely cited.

Inquiries are accepted from plaintiff and defense counsel alike. Every matter is screened for conflicts before any records are reviewed, and a case will be declined where the medicine does not support the position it is being asked to support.
